DISCOVER BrainIAC
BrainIAC at Duke University was founded to improve the quality of life for individuals living with brain injuries and the people who support them. Our mission is to provide meaningful emotional support, raise awareness, and share evidence-based resources so that patients, families, and friends feel less alone in navigating the challenges of brain injury.
Through our partnership with the Duke Sports Concussion Clinic, BrainIAC provides support to patients recovering from concussions and other brain injuries. We also run a peer buddy program, pairing Duke students with individuals in recovery to offer one-on-one practical assistance.
Beyond direct support, BrainIAC works to spread awareness across campus and the wider community. We meet with Duke athletic teams to promote concussion awareness and safe practices, and we organize talks featuring physicians, researchers, patients, and caregivers to share insights from every perspective. These events create opportunities to learn, reduce stigma, and build understanding around brain health.
At BrainIAC, our goal is simple: to combine compassion, community, and education in order to make the journey after brain injury a little lighter and a lot more hopeful.
Our Work

Duke Sports Concussion Clinic
We partner with the Duke Sports Concussion Clinic to provide emotional support and resources for patients recovering from concussions and other brain injuries. Through peer buddy programs and group sessions, we aim to make recovery less isolating and more manageable.

Campus Awareness
BrainIAC meets with Duke athletic teams and student groups to promote concussion awareness and safe practices. By engaging directly with athletes and peers, we help reduce stigma and highlight the importance of early recognition and care.

Educational Talks
We host talks and panels featuring physicians, researchers, patients, and caregivers to spread awareness about brain injuries. These conversations provide evidence-based information while sharing the human side of recovery.
